There are many ways that you can volunteer and we would very much appreciate your involvement in achieving this goal! We are looking to fill the following specific positions at this time:

Writer/Storyteller (Estimated commitment: 5-10 hours a week)

Overview

Capture and present stories with emotional depth while preserving privacy. 

Duties

  • Produce and direct scripted and non-scripted video content such as donor stories and beneficiary testimonials.
  • Connect with donors and beneficiaries across the globe and be able to capture their stories effectively.
  • Create content ready for online channels such as website and social media.
  • Work with the Founder and Advisory Board to create content for upcoming Fundraising campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Broad experience in writing and storytelling using multi-media content.
  • Experience working and communicating with a diverse set of audiences.
  • Experience developing and writing online content for non-profit advocacy organizations or national and local organizing campaigns.
  • Excellent communications (written & verbal), including the ability connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work within established brand and style guidelines, and work with campaign leaders to produce on-message content, including a focus on design and ability to use or learn software like Photoshop or Illustrator, meme & gif generators, and/or apps like Canva.
  • A passion for NSF’s cause and making education accessible to one and all, and desire to translate that into powerful content that advance our campaigns, showcase our work, and engage our audiences.
  • Knowledge of Telugu or Hindi a plus but not required.

Social Media Manager (Estimated commitment: 5 hours a week)

Overview

Develop and implement a content and engagement strategy for the Next Step Foundation social media accounts, including promoting content for our organizational social media presence.

Duties

  • Manage NSF’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Connect with donors and beneficiaries online and otherwise and seek content on a regular basis.
  • Develop strategies to increase our social media reach that aligns with our larger campaigning and communication goals, including through managing paid digital advertising campaigns on social media.
  • Work with the Founder and Advisory Board to create content for upcoming Fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop and manage a system for timely responses to the members and activists who contact us via email and social media, including collaborating with other volunteers, managing remote volunteers and/or responding yourself.
  • Provide periodic reports to the Advisory Board.

Qualifications

  • Broad experience in managing social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Experience running livestreams a plus.
  • 3+ years of substantive digital & social media experience in an organization, campaign, volunteer, or campus setting.
  • Experience working and communicating with a diverse set of audiences.
  • Experience with developing and reporting on performance metrics and knowledge of social media listening, social media management, and analytics tools.
  • Experience developing and implementing online content for non-profit advocacy organizations or national and local organizing campaigns, including working in a campaign style environment with rapid-fire deadlines and responses.
  • Excellent communications (written & verbal), including the Ability to take complex topics and make them accessible to a mass audience.
  • Ability to work within established brand and style guidelines, and work with campaign leaders to produce on-message content, including a focus on design and ability to use or learn software like Photoshop or Illustrator, meme & gif generators, and/or apps like Canva.
  • Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and communicative.
  • A passion for NSF’s cause and making education accessible to one and all, and desire to translate that into powerful content that advance our campaigns, showcase our work, and engage our audiences.

Community Outreach and Fundraising Assistant (Estimated commitment: 5-10 hours a week)

Overview

Looking for a volunteer to assist in organizing fundraising events.  The individual will need to actively reach out within the community and provide information about NSF, its impact and accomplishments and upcoming fundraising efforts to prospective and existing donors.

Duties

  • Plan fundraising event and event logistics
  • Manage communication related to fundraising events through phone, online and social media
  • Track sponsorship goals and progress against goals
  • Conduct event presentations to new target audiences

Qualifications

  • Prior fundraising experience for nonprofits
  • Ability to build rapport with donors
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Very social and outgoing personality
  • Excellent communications (written & verbal), including the ability connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A passion for NSF’s cause and making education accessible to one and all, and desire to translate that into powerful content that advance our campaigns, showcase our work, and engage our audiences.
